Pots & Pans Home Bake & Coffee Shop....Through The Years...
Pots & Pans Home Bake & Coffee Shop started way back in 1976 with Ms. Gloria S. Dychauco, my late sister & mentor as owner & proprietor. It was conceptualized way even before Gloria graduated from her BS Home Economics degree from UST in Manila.
It didn't take long to materialize because Juan Sia Enterprises just opened its doors to the public. and Gloria was given a small space inside the supermarket to begin her business venture. it was a 6 table coffee shop that can accommodate about 24 people comfortably but we always have more than that amount of guests in one sitting.
it was a cozy little place where everyone gets to enjoy, not only the place but more on the food and the camaraderie among fellow Cagay-anons and their friends. it was a time when everybody seem to know everyone.
Pots & Pans Home Bake & Coffee Shop initiated & popularized the Asado Rolls, Corned Beef Rolls, Chicken Pao, Spaghetti, Pancit Palabok, Hamburger, French Fries, Mango Shake, Chinese Fresh Lumpia, Fried Spring Rolls, Siomai, Siopao, large Cinnamon Loaf, Sally Lunn, Square Bread, Mongo Bread, Ham & Cheese Loaf, Cream Puff, Mango Iced Box Cake, Mocha Cake, Sans Rival, Sylvannas, Halo-halo, Maiz Con Hielo and so many more.
Unfortunately, my sister Gloria left us in 1989 at the peak of her career. She was known as the "Empress Dowager" of Foods, be it mouth-watering cakes, breads, pastries or sumptuous dishes.
Being her side kick, critique, food taster & brother all rolled into one, i continued her legacy until today. although we have undergone so many changes, location, menu, staff and all, we try to continue to do what my sister Gloria does best: cook, bake, decorate and deliver goodies like before.
We might not have all the list of food items before, but we have evolved into a more friendly, more consumer and more budget-conscious shop. aside from the breads, cakes & pastries, we also started selling cake accessories, cooking & baking ingredients, basic packaging needs & equipment.
through the years, we continue to do and make our customers satisfied with what we have to offer. we have started & evolutionized many first in the industry like: Custom-made Photo Edible Image Cakes in 2000, Personalized Culinary Classes, Unique Fondant Cakes, Satellite Cakes for weddings, Chocolate Fondue Fountains, Cupcakes, Cookies, & Brownies as party favors, Dessert Buffets, and many others.
i have been kept busy with Culinary workshops & demonstrations all over the country (Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iligan, Dipolog, Ozamiz, Camiguin, Bukidnon, Marawi, Pagadian, Zamboanga etc.) be it during food expositions, at HRM schools, DTI, TESDA, or my own live shows: Culinary Fusion & Let's Cake it" Shows. Let's Cook & Bake with Ed, a weekly TV Culinary Show was aired over COC Channel 39 for 2 seasons after which i have guested very often at ABS-CBN Cagayan de Oro's Tsada, Chuy, Mag TV & Pamahaw Espesyal doing what i do best... doing live cooking , baking & cake decorating demonstrations. I have also served as a judge in countless culinary competitions and consultant in several bakeshops here & abroad, food establishments, resorts & hotels. i have done food styling and continuously handles culinary arts classes at Pots & Pans.
My articles on foods, events, activities and many others grace the inside pages of Sunstar CDO every thursday of the week and can be read on line, Goldstar Daily Cdo (also available on line), The Daily Corridor, News Express and Business Mindanao.
after 35 successful years, we are still striving hard in making a lot of people happy and satisfied despite the many competitions in the market and come up with new innovations and ideas.
